A short, but enjoyable day.
We have had a short day today. Until now we have got close to our destination and caught some other means of transport, including a taxi yesterday. We have been really spent, due to the heat and, yesterday, the humidity. We decided that today we would have a short day, allowing us to have a "rest", and, more importantly, give us time to take a detour to a special place.

We had a leisurely start to the day, knowing that we only had to walk with packs for 7 kms. We have been walking towards, and then through, the Parque de Ojo Guareña. The park boasts wonderful forests, gorgeous walking tracks, historic monuments and a cave complex which is the second largest in Spain, and the tenth largest in the world.
Leaving Espinosa de los Monteros
Last evening we had a view of the church.
We knew we would not be able to take a tour, the caves or the Ermita de San Bernabé, but we still wanted to make the detour to see the facades. It was especially interesting to see the rock of the mountains up close. We'd been looking across at these mountain escarpments for some days.

The path today was lovely. We walked through forests, through some delightful villages, and had some magnificent views.
Yesterday we met our first pilgrim - Cecilia, from Argentina. She is very fast, and though we met her again today, her pace is likely to mean that we won't see her again.
So good to follow your adventures, Janet. Commentary and pictures are wonderful. A Camino Beatitude - 7. Blessed are you pilgrim, when you don’t have words to give thanks for everything that surprises you at every twist and turn of the way. 🙏
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. Hopefully I can maintain it!
DeleteWell, Ursula and I are off to an AFotC meeting in about an hour. Then I'll be in Barcelona in about three weeks. Suppose I better start getting my gear together!!
ReplyDeleteBuen suerte from us.
Thanks Stephen. I have heard the meeting went well. Hopefully you will have cooler weather by the time you arrive. Buen Camino.
